752 views · Dec 31, 2022 worldenglishblog.com
One of my private students asked me: “Should I say tired of or tired from?” I took the answer I gave my student, collected some more information, and put this video together for ESL students like you. If you are TIRED OF (something) it means that you had too much of something, or done something too much ~ to be bored with an activity, a thing or person If you are TIRED FROM (something) it means that some activity you have done has made you tired

The Difference Between Affect And Effect
480 views · Dec 13, 2022 worldenglishblog.com
Affect Vs Effect The English words Affect and Effect are easy to confuse. Their spelling is similar and their meanings both relate to change. It’s easy for me to see as a teacher why these words often get used incorrectly. They are different kinds of words, one is a verb and the other is a noun. They are used with different kinds of grammar. Affect is most often used as a verb that means: to produce a change in somebody/something “My relationship with her did not affect my decision.” Effect is most often used as a noun that means: a change that somebody/something causes in somebody/something else; a result “You can’t have a cause without an effect.”

PLAY DO and GO - Your Best Guide

How to use the verbs PLAY. DO. and GO. My student asked me if I “played Karate.” I knew what my student meant, but this is not a natural way to ask this question in English. We use the verb do with karate and other martial arts. “I used to do Karate, Kung Fu, and Jiujitsu.” “One of my English students is in junior high school. She does Kendo.” How to use PLAY, DO, and GO play – for games and for sports that use a ball. “I play baseball every Sunday.” do – for sports or activities that don’t use a ball. “I do karate after school on Monday and Wednesday.” go – with sports or activities that end with ~ing. “My friends and I will go bowling tomorrow.”

Do you have PLANS or A PLAN?
1K views · Dec 7, 2022 worldenglishblog.com
This is a common question I get asked by my ESL students. Should I say ask “any plan or any plans?” It’s a good question so I put together this video. Should we say “Do you have any plans OR a plan?” Any plans = what are you going to do? (plans is plural) A plan = is used when you have a specific goal in mind, it is not used to ask about what someone is going to do during a certain time. I’ll break down the meaning in this post with lots of natural examples that you can use in your own English conversations. plan noun something that you intend to do or achieve There’s been a change of plan. She told us about her future plans. plan verb to make detailed arrangements for something you want to do in the future I’m planning a big party this weekend. I hope you can come.” Everything happened as planned. The noun form of PLAN is the version that we use in this expression.

English adverbs TOO and NEITHER (real student question ❓)
4K views · Dec 7, 2022 worldenglishblog.com
Me too or Me neither? We use the adverbs too and neither to show that a statement is also true for someone or something else. Too is used for affirmative or positive statements. (like, do, can, often etc.) I watch football. – Me too. [I also watch football.] Neither is used in negative statements. (don’t, can’t, never etc.) I don’t watch baseball. – Me neither. [I also don’t watch baseball.]
