June 21st is the solstice.

In the northern part of the world, June 21st is the Summer solstice.
In the southern part of the world, June 21st is the Winter solstice.
solstice [noun] either of the two times of the year at which the sun reaches its highest or lowest point in the sky at midday, marked by the longest and shortest days
There is a Summer solstice and a Winter solstice. (Definition from Oxford Learner’s Dictionaries .com)
During the summer solstice, the Northern part of the Earth is closer to the sun. The days are longer and the temperature is warmer.
The sun tilts towards the sun.
tilt [verb] to move, or make something move, into a position with one side or end higher than the other
The summer solstice is the longest day of the year. The day of the year with the most daylight (sunshine). When I first wrote this post, the sun rose at around 4:30 am and it didn’t set (go down) until 7:00 pm in Tokyo. That’s more than 14 hours of daylight!

June 21st is the summer solstice. (In the northern hemisphere) Do you know what a hemisphere is?
hemisphere [noun] one half of the earth, especially the half above or below the equator
~ the northern/southern hemisphere
So if you live in the Northern half of the earth, June 21st is the longest day of the year. if you live in the Southern half of the earth June 21st is the shortest day.
