Adjective + of

A few weeks ago we practiced adjectives and adverbs. This week lets practice using adjectives with their prepositions.

We often use adjectives of feelings with of.
Adjectives like afraid, frightened, and scared are used with of – then the subject. Adjective with feeling + of + the thing that gives us that feeling.
For example:
“Walter is afraid of heights.” = He doesn’t like high places.
“Shelly is scared of dogs, she got bit by a dog when she was 7.” = Shelly doesn’t like to be around dogs.
A: “Do you want to see my pet spider?”

B: “No thanks! I’m terrified of spiders!”

“You don’t have to be afraid of my dog, he is too lazy to bite anyone.”
